I can crochet...albeit not very well, but I I DID IT!!!!

I got a bee in my bonnet this week, and wanted to get something crafty and portable! A sewing machine is not in that category. I have tried knitting and it did not strike a chord in my life, so I thought I would try something different...CROCHETING!!!!

So Julia found me this awesome book, and needle set for $9.99, and I set to work.

My first creation I tried out the single crochet stitch in baby blue

Then I decided to try something different in my favorite shade of green. I tried the double half crochet stitch, and it started out rough. I had many problems with turning the corners as you can see with the wave in the middle....

I got the hang of the corners after watching a great youtube tutorial and the end was very even~
Not wanting to waste all of my effort and time that I had spent so I turned it into a neck warmer of sorts...Laura style!

So I grabbed some thrifted buttons from an old coat of mine, stitched them in place, and Voila...

Perfectly hidden curvy parts under my collar, and snuggly warm for these cold days~

~Thanks for looking~

More gifts galore...

Last night I made some cute as pie little dresses for my new nieces for their Christmas presents. I thought I would share some pictures of them with you.

My mama used to make Julia and I our clothes when we were little. They always were the same pattern, but had a bit of a difference.
Just like Julia and I.

I thought Jordyn and Ashlyn, being fraternal twins, might need something along those lines also.

I love the way they turned out!

Have you ever tried anything like this?

While browsing the grocery aisles this morning before skiing, I had no idea what to make for dinner. You see, I am making a conscious effort to mix it up a bit in the food department for the sake of my boys. I am sort of a one trick pony in the dinner arena, and felt that the boys were not really getting a round about selection. I am a baker, and definitely NOT a chef. I just don't like to do it...I would much rather bake all day. I was in the frozen food section when I came across this.

Doesn't it look and sound delicious? I thought so too?
OHHHHHH and it was on sale for $5.00 from $5.99!
I thought I would give it a try.

Look at the ingredients...Rotini, Sausage, Tomatoes, Red and Yellow Peppers, and it had this amazing marsala wine tomato sauce. I mean come on... you can not buy all of those ingredients for $5.00. I am not one for leftovers, so I would have wasted a whole bunch of food and ingredients if I had made this. It had a perfect amount of servings for my boys and I.

It actually looks like the meal on the package...AMAZING...HAHAHA

So thank you Central Market for making our fabulous meal, and we will be seeing you again~

Have you ever tried one of these sorts of meals? I would love different takes on this!

I leave you with a picture of my boys, who ate ALL of their new dinner, and really enjoyed it. I love how Eben is draped over Sam's legs, and they are both so ensconced in the video game de'jour.

Piggies in blankets recipe anyone?

Super easy recipe I made today, not really rocket science LOL, but I thought I would share it with you all. With the Holiday parties coming up, these are easy and can be made ahead of time, and don't cost an arm and a leg like the ones you can buy pre made. Sam loved them, and I did too ~ just put them with a variety of dipping sauces, and you are set for appetizers.

Begin with a frozen loaf of regular white bread dough (use homemade if you like but kind of defeats the idea of this EASY recipe). Thaw in a warm place and allow to double in size.
Preheat oven to 400 F.

Roll out the dough onto a floured surface about 1/8th inch thick, then slice using a pizza cutter into approximately 1 in. strips vertically, then cut horizontally down the middle of all the strips.

Take your little smokies or comparable tiny hot dogs, and wrap them up from one end to another. It does not need to be perfect, and it is great for those little busy hands you may have laying around the house. Sam wants me to tell you that he loved helping wrap up the piggies~

Line a cookie sheet with tin foil and spray with cooking spray. Place the piggies on it with about 1/4 in. spacings. Then spray the piggies lightly with the cooking spray.

Place in the oven, and bake for about 12-15 min, or until the look like this...

ENJOY!
